Join Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland to have your say on healthy weight pathways
The Right Decision Service team in Healthcare Improvement Scotland is working with the Weight Management Leads in Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland on an innovative development to support people to find the option that will work best for them in attaining a healthy weight. Innovate UK is funding creation of a shared decision aid to support people to work with their healthcare professionals to find the approach that will best help them to attain a healthy weight.
In addition to direct and important help for patients and the public, this development will help in achieving important national strategic objectives around weight management.
We would greatly value your advice and input to ensure that this shared decision aid is useful to both professionals and to service users.
What is involved?
We would like to invite you to participate in any of the following Teams webinars to gather your input to design of this new tool.
24 September 12.30 pm – 1.15 pm
25 September 3.15 pm – 4.00 pm
30 September 4 pm – 4.45 pm
We will demo initial versions of proposed elements of the shared decision aid and welcome your input around these:
- step by step process to identify weight management options suitable for the individual’s needs, taking into account BMI, height to waist measurement and other risk factors. This will include information on local weight management services.
- A conversation aid to open up the discussion about weight management options
- Tools to support psychological readiness for change.
- A tool for setting personal outcomes and progress to achieving them.
How can I participate?
Healthcare professionals, third sector staff and patient/public groups are both very welcome to attend these webinars. To attend, please email ann.wales3@nhs.scot with your name and your:
- role and organisation (where appropriate)
- email address
- date of the webinar you would like to attend.
