Long Covid Scotland and Long Covid Kids announce their resignation from the NHS NSS Strategic Network for the Long Term Effects of COVID-19.
The ALLIANCE has been an active third sector member of the NHS NSS Strategic Network for the Long Term Effects of COVID-19 for several years. In support of the national network, we co-ordinate the Long Covid Lived Experience Network and amplify the voice of those people affected by Long Covid.
Last week, Long Covid Scotland and Long Covid Kids announced their resignation from the NHS NSS Strategic Network for the Long Term Effects of COVID-19.
The ALLIANCE has long highlighted the challenges that people with Long Covid face in accessing the support and services they need. We fully recognise the issues raised by Long Covid Scotland and Long Covid Kids, with similar concerns arising in our own Long Covid Network.
We remain committed to working constructively with NHS Services Scotland (NSS) and the Strategic Network to ensure change is shaped by lived experience. Our report draws directly on the experiences of people with Long Covid to understand how they access – or disengage from – the services they rely on. Insights from lived experience must lead to real improvements in support and care.
As an independent intermediary, our role has always been to facilitate and amplify the voices of people affected by Long Covid within these strategic processes wherever we can. The resignation of these key organisations highlights just how critical open and honest communication with lived experience is, as well as the need to make clear and transparent actions following engagement.
We will continue to amplify those voices of people affected by Long Covid who engage with us. If you would like to learn more about our Long Covid Lived Experience Network, or if have your own views on Long Covid services in Scotland that you would like to share with us, we’d love to hear from you – please email longcovid@alliance-scotland.org.uk.
