The Scottish Government and COSLA have published the Care in the Digital Age: Delivery Plan 2023-24.

The Delivery Plan supports the refreshed Digital Health and Care Strategy (the Strategy) that was published in October 2021. The Strategy aims to “improve the care and wellbeing of people in Scotland by making best use of digital technologies in the design and delivery of services”. It also aims to focus on providing the right care, in the right place at the right time. The Delivery Plan sets out how these aims and visions of the Strategy will be achieved.

The first delivery plan was published in November 2022. The new Delivery Plan outlines the work completed from 2022 to 2023 and what is scheduled for the next few years. From 2022 to 2023, 53 out of the 60 commitments were achieved.

For example:

  • the roll out of the Microsoft Office 365,
  • the creation of Scotland’s first Data Strategy for Health and Social Care and,
  • the implementation of 26 digital mental health therapy options.

The Delivery Plan for 2023 – 2024 outlines several new commitments around digital access, digital services and digital skills and leadership.

This includes:

  • the delivery of a digital inclusion programme,
  • the development and adoption of Digital Hospital at Home
  • the replacement of the CHI Number (Community Health Index) with a new patient master system
  • publishing a delivery plan for the Data Strategy in Health and Social Care and,
  • implementing a Leading Digital Transformation in Health and Care MSc.
