Scottish Government announce spring launch for Scotland’s new health and social care app

Scottish Government will launch an online service in Lanarkshire in December, then develop an app for nationwide roll out starting April 26
MyCare.scot, Scotland’s new health and social care online app, will be made available to everyone across Scotland from April 2026, following an initial launch in Lanarkshire in December.
Scottish Government strive for the new online service to transform how people access and interact with health and social care services. People will be provided with a secure digital identity, access to some personal information and the national service finder from NHS inform.
The initial launch in Lanarkshire will be targeted at dermatology outpatients. It will then be evaluated, and an app will be developed in reflection from the learning and feedback from those utilising the online service in Lanarkshire, before being rolled out progressively across Scotland from April 2026.
Following initial roll-out, MyCare will be expanded to hospital-based services, before including other areas of the health and social care system, including GP practices, pharmacy, social work and social care.
Many Digital Citizen Panel members have been involved in ‘digital front door engagement’ activity, which has helped informed the creation of this digital health and social care service, which we now know as MyCare.
Scottish Government hope that once the rollout is complete, MyCare will be the most wide-ranging app offered to patients anywhere in the UK.
