Together now offers a range of UNCRC training sessions designed to help professionals embed children’s human rights in practice.
Together is an alliance of Scottish children’s charities that works to improve the awareness, understanding and implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
They now offer a range of UNCRC training sessions designed to help professionals embed children’s human rights in practice. The sessions are based on the Children’s Rights Skills and Knowledge Framework and aim to give participants practical tools to apply rights-based approaches in their work and organisations.
Together offers two types of training:
- The Taking a Children’s Human Rights Approach in Practice sessions introduce the five principles of a Children’s Human Rights Approach and show how they can be applied in daily work.
- Sessions focusing on each of the five principles – Embedding, Equality and Non-Discrimination, Empowerment, Participation and Accountability – which give a deeper understanding of how each principle connects to the others and how it can be used in practice.
Participants have shared positive feedback about the sessions:
One attendee said: “I really liked how practical and thought-provoking the session was. It gave me time to reflect on how a rights-based approach can be meaningfully embedded, not just talked about. I also appreciated the space for discussion, as it was great hearing different perspectives and ideas that I can take back into my own work.”
Another commented: “I found the examples of how organisations are putting children’s rights into practice really useful. It helped to see what this can look like in real settings and gave me ideas for how I can apply similar approaches in my own work, especially around participation and accountability.”
Together also offers bespoke consultancy and training for organisations seeking tailored support to implement a children’s human rights approach. For more information, contact mary@togetherscotland.org.uk
