The Integration Support team continued its role increasing the third sector’s capacity to contribute to health and social care integration.
Throughout the year, we supported Borders Care Voice and the local Borders Third Sector Interface with the planning and delivery of Third Sector Forums. Collectively, these aimed to improve the relationship between the third and statutory sector in the Scottish Borders and give local third sector organisations greater say in strategic decision making processes We have published a report summarising the learning from these forums on the ALLIANCE website.
In May, we published our Engagement Insights report. This summarised the learning from our four Engagement Insights events that we held in partnership with the Health and Social Care Academy. The learning from Engagement Insights is a good starting point for discussions and debates on how third sector and public organisations can improve engagement practices.
We published our Community in Action learning report in April, examining the learning from the first 51 Community in Action articles which were published in 2020.
We supported Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership by designing and delivering a series of events which gave local community members and staff the opportunity to share their vision, values and aspirations for future locality plans and overall strategy.
The team supported the development of a person friendly opioid information leaflet in partnership with colleagues in the Scottish Government. This was informed by a workshop which sought views from people with lived experience.
In partnership with various ALLIANCE teams, we carried out a range of activity in response to the Scottish Government’s proposals for a National Care Service. We carried out high level analysis of the National Care Service consultation document, to identify key insights, questions and priorities that have direct implication for health and social care integration, and which we may flag to ALLIANCE colleagues and its members.
We ran an opinion piece series looking at the Future of Social Care to highlight the expert knowledge and experience our members have which will provide an additional platform to contribute to the consultation.
In addition, we hosted two engagement events with the Scottish Government to directly hear from ALLIANCE members who contributed to the Independent Review of Adult Social Care. The first, in June, gave people the chance to meet with the Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care, Kevin Stewart MSP and discuss the recommendations of the Independent Review of Adult Social Care in Scotland. With the second, in October, giving people the opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns about the proposals set forth in the National Care Service consultation document.
Members of our team have also written opinion pieces on the Scottish Government’s pandemic response, relationship building, co-production and the anniversary of our Third and Independent Sectors as Partners report.
