The ALLIANCE and Scottish Government are hosting a free webinar on HRT on Wednesday 21st October 12-1pm to mark World Menopause Day 2026.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment used to relieve symptoms of the menopause. It replaces the female hormones that are at a lower level as you experience the menopause, and which cause a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including hot flushes, mood swings and vaginal dryness. The aim of HRT is to restore female hormone levels, which can bring relief to many women.

This session will explore the role of HRT in managing menopause symptoms and the risk and benefits, so that people feel better informed and more confident when deciding on the right treatment option for them.  The webinar will explain the different types of HRT and how they work, as well as unpicking some common myths and misconceptions. HRT is just one option for managing menopause symptoms and the session will touch briefly on alternatives.

We will be joined by Dr Jenifer Sassarini from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as our key speaker. Please note that our speakers can’t give any individual medical advice, but if you wish to put a general question to them then there will be opportunity to do so on the day.

This webinar is for the general public, and is open to anyone that wishes to learn more about HRT for menopause. Health professionals are welcome to join, although discussion will not focus on diagnosis or managing menopause from a professional perspective.

This webinar will feature BSL/English interpreters and a graphic facilitator. The webinar will be recorded.

NOTES

[1] This event is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government and in support of the Women’s Health Plan

[2] The Women’s Health Plan and the ALLIANCE’s programme uses the term ‘women/woman’ throughout but it is important to highlight that it is not only those who identify as women who require access to gynaecology and reproductive health services. All healthcare services should be respectful and responsive to individual needs.
