We speak to Anglea Leitch about the priorities for PHS and lessons learned from the pandemic to "build back fairer" in Scotland.
In this latest ALLIANCE Live interview, Sara Redmond, Director of Development and Improvement at the ALLIANCE spoke to Angela Leitch, Chief Executive of Public Health Scotland (PHS) about the priorities of the organisation as Scotland’s healthcare system moves into the recovery phase from the pandemic.
The conversation provides viewers with an insight into the role PHS plays in enabling Scotland’s citizens to attain their right to good health. Throughout the interview, Angela returns to the public health commitment within Scotland to reduce health inequalities and especially those caused by child poverty. In her answers Angela also talks about the lessons learned during the pandemic and what would her priorities be given the chance of a blank slate at redesigning our health and social care system.
Public Health Scotland was founded on 1st April 2020 and has recently published its first annual review.
Public Health Scotland was set up to ensure that Scotland can tackle the public health challenges of today and tomorrow and with an aim to ensure that everyone enjoys the right to health.
