Have your say on what information is needed on post-abortion contraception

The University of Edinburgh is conducting the SCOPE+ research study on post-abortion contraception, and wants to hear from many voices.

Researchers from the University of Edinburgh are working on a project called SCOPE+. The aim of SCOPE+ is to create a new website with clear, helpful, and honest information about contraception after abortion. We want this website to work for everyone in Scotland.

Who are we looking for?

Anyone aged 18 or over who has experience* with post-abortion contraception (directly or indirectly) and lives or works in Scotland. 

*In this project, we have a broad understanding of what it means to have experience with post-abortion contraception. This includes: having considered or accessed contraception after an abortion and/or having supported a friend, family member or partner to find information about or access post-abortion contraception (e.g., supporting them look for contraceptive options online).

How can you get involved?

There are two ways to take part at this point (you can get involved in both if you would like):

1. Complete a short anonymous survey (around 20–30 minutes) Share your views on what information a national website on post-abortion contraception should include. The survey is completely anonymous. → Access survey here

2. Take part in a group discussion (around 60–90 minutes) Join a small group discussion about your experiences of looking for post-abortion contraception information and share your views on existing online resources. It will take place either online via Microsoft Teams or in person. You will receive a £30 voucher as a thank you. When filling out the survey and joining a group discussion, you may refer to your own direct experience of looking for post-abortion contraception information, or your experience of supporting a friend, family member or partner looking for post-abortion contraception information.

Your decision about whether to take part is entirely your own. You do not need to tell The ALLIANCE whether you choose to participate, and they will not be informed either way. Any contact you have with the research team is confidential.
