Realistic Medicine
As part of wider work on Realistic Medicine in Scotland, ALLIANCE Live produced three videos explaining what the approach means for individuals receiving care and how it is applied in real life.
The first video featured an interview between ALLIANCE Chief Officer, Sara Redmond and Scottish Government Chief Medical Officer, Gregor Smith. The conversation explored how Realistic Medicine is driving a culture change in the way health and social care is delivered in Scotland.
The second video features a second interview, this time with ALLIANCE Lead for Caring and Outreach, Tommy Whitelaw and Realistic Medicine Clinical Lead for Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Dr Jude Marshall. The discussion looks at the work going on in Glasgow to implement Realistic Medicine and how patients can get more involved in decisions around their own care.
The third and final video is a case study starring Stephen, who shares his experience of experience of the new Hospital at Home service that supports and improves patients’ health and wellbeing while keeping them in their own homes for longer. This personalised approach to patient care is an example of Realistic Medicine in practice.
