Call for participants – National Care Service Charter

Researchers at the Scottish Government are looking to hear from people with lived experience about what should be included in a NCS Charter.
Researchers working for the Scottish Government are about to start some research with people who have experience of receiving social care. An Easy Read summary of the project is available here.
The National Care Service will be a single place to access Social Care in Scotland. The research team are at the beginning of looking at other things it might do, and how it will work.
In this research the team are looking to speak to people about:
- What you think the National Care Service Charter should include
- How a Charter should help to deliver a fair and accessible National Care Service in the future.
In this research, the team are looking to speak to:
- People over 18 with experience of receiving care or support in a residential setting
- People over 18 who have experience of receiving care or support at home (this might include having someone come into their home to help support them to live at home).
The research team are particularly interested in speaking to:
- People from the LGBTI community
- People with learning or sensory impairments
- People from minority ethnic backgrounds.
- People over the state pension age
About the interviews
The research team are looking to carry out 60-minute informal interviews. These can be done over the phone or through a video call on Microsoft Teams. If you are unable to attend online, the team will try to arrange a face-to-face session.
The questions the researchers ask will relate to your views and experiences and there are no right or wrong answers.
Interviews will take place from Monday 9th May 2022 until the middle of June.
Slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If the research team are unable to speak to you in this round of research, they will offer to save your contact details and contact you about appropriate future research.
Group workshops
You can also take part in group workshops after the interviews. The research team will give more information about this in the interview.
You are welcome to take part in an interview only, or in an interview and group workshop.
Payment for your time
The research team will offer shopping vouchers to participants to thank you for taking part in the research. You will receive £30 in an interview and £50 for taking part in both an interview and a group workshop. Vouchers will be issued upon the completion of the research activity only. If the session is not completed, vouchers may not be offered. This will be at the discretion of the researcher.
Vouchers will be posted out to you. You should be aware that receiving payment may impact ‘income assessed’ benefits you receive. You can find out more at Involve
