The framework was informed by the National Advisory Committee for Chronic Pain, of which the ALLIANCE was a member.

The Scottish Government have published a new Framework for Pain Management Service Delivery Implementation Plan (this link will take you away from our website.) This follows the publication of a draft framework in 2021 and accompanying consultation between December 2021 and February 2022.

The framework is centred around 4 aims:

  1. Person centred care
  2. Access to care
  3. Safe, effective support to live well with chronic pain
  4. Improving services and care

To achieve these aims, the framework outlines actions including developing a Chronic Pain Knowledge Hub for professionals; a digital approach to improving access to services; updated clinical guidelines for managing chronic pain; and identifying shared research priorities. A Pain Management Panel consisting of people with lived experience of chronic pain will also be established.

The ALLIANCE have fed into the development of the framework as members of the National Advisory Committee for Chronic Pain (NACCP).
