The study will focus on the impact of weight management on the symptoms of the condition.
The ReDIRECT study research team at the University of Glasgow (this link will take you away from our website) have begun a National Institute for Health Research funded study that will test if a well-established weight management program, delivered and supported entirely remotely, can improve symptoms for people with Long Covid and who are overweight/have obesity.
Weight management programmes in adults who are overweight/have obesity can reduce symptoms such as fatigue, breathlessness, and pains, which are also common with Long Covid. However, researchers don’t know how effective intentional weight loss is to reduce these symptoms for overweight people with Long Covid.
The team are keen to ensure that the study reaches wide audiences and are looking to recruit eligible patients to this study. They are looking to recruit people aged 18 and over with Long Covid who have a BMI of over 27kg/m2.
If you would like to discuss the study and/or require further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the ReDIRECT study team on this link redirectstudy.co.uk (this link will take you away from our website) or email the study team at redirect-study@glasgow.ac.uk
