Lapidus Scotland seek to explore and expand knowledge and understanding of the value of words for health and wellbeing.
Lapidus Scotland (this link will take you away from our website) is looking to appoint new committee members to support the next stage of their development.
Since 1996 Lapidus Scotland has looked to explore and expand knowledge and understanding of the value of words. They work with people, groups and organisations, offering reading and writing activities to promote health and wellbeing (often referred to as ‘bibliotherapy’). Their programmes offer a creative approach to supporting self-management of long-term conditions and can e.g. help with mild to moderate depression, isolation, dementia, recovery from stroke and other illnesses that impact on individual identity.
Committee members are vital supporters of and advocates for Lapidus Scotland, helping create possibilities across all of their work. They now wish to invite between two and four new members to join their committee. There is no need to have previous experience of being a trustee.
They hope to appoint someone who is enthusiastic about writing and wellbeing, ideally with skills and experience in fund-raising, healthcare, marketing or community engagement. If however you have skills in other areas, and have energy and enthusiasm for writing and wellbeing, they would still like to hear from you.
The committee meets up to eight times a year, and currently consists of five members. Since spring 2020 all meetings have taken place online. In future they plan to hold meetings mainly online, with some face-to-face.
Participation is unpaid but any expenses incurred (including, for example, child-care or travel) are fully covered.
Lapidus Scotland recognises its responsibility to support equality, diversity and inclusion. They welcome applicants of any gender, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation and from socio-economically deprived or working class backgrounds.
If you would like to get involved, please advise of your interest by sending a short statement outlining relevant experience, knowledge and suitability, in an email with the subject heading ‘BOARD’ to: lapidus.scotland.1@gmail.com
The deadline for expressions of interest is 09.00 on Thursday 21 April.
