New report launched on the future of hospice care in Scotland

The report reflects on the role of the sector during COVID-19 and its work to support recovery and renewal in Scotland.
Hospice UK, in collaboration with the Scottish Hospice Leadership Group, has launched a new report, ‘The Future of Hospice Care in Scotland’ (this link will take you away from our website).
The report sets out the unique contribution of Scottish hospices, the key role the sector has played during the COVID-19 pandemic and how hospices are working in partnership with the wider health and social care system to support Scotland’s recovery and adapt to meet future challenges and the rising need for palliative care.
The report sets out what is needed to enable change, including:
- Long-term sustainable funding for the hospice sector, as part of wider funding to meet population need for palliative and end of life care across all settings, particularly in the community
- Prioritising palliative care at a national and local level, with hospices valued as equal partners in the planning, design and delivery of services
- A supported and sustainable workforce to meet palliative care need across all settings
