Award for outstanding contributions to the use of BSL in STEM education.

Dr Audrey Cameron OBE is among 27 Royal Society medal and award winners announced on 27 August 2026 for their outstanding contributions to scientific discovery, public engagement and research culture.

Dr Cameron from the University of Edinburgh will receive the Royal Society Research Culture Award for groundbreaking contributions to both science education and accessibility for the Deaf community.

Her achievements include significantly advancing the use of BSL in STEM education, particularly the compilation of over 4,000 signs for STEM with BSL definitions and examples.
