The Scottish Sensory Centre’s Habilitation Service specialises in providing comprehensive assessments for mobility, orientation, and independent living skills, alongside crucial advice and transition support for children and young people with Visual Impairment.

The Habilitation Service can help with:

  • Identifying strengths and pinpointing support needs in mobility, orientation, and independent living skills.
  • Guiding children and young people through key life transitions and educational changes.
  • Recommending practical adaptations for residential and educational environments to enhance safety and accessibility.
  • Delivering tailored advice for families and professionals supporting the child or young person.

The Habilitation Service offers support to local authorities, sensory services, and residential schools. They can also offer one-off assessments or blocks of training at an hourly rate.
