New Report: Compass National Data 2025 – 26

The Scottish Transitions Forum hosted by ARC Scotland have launched the Compass National Data report for 2025-26.
Through Compass, the digital personalised guide to transitions in Scotland, ARC Scotland have gathered crucial insights from professionals, young people, and parents and carers.
This report shares national data from the first year of the Scottish Government National Transitions to Adulthood Strategy for Young Disabled People, making comparisons with experiences and data from the previous year to reveal where progress has been made – and where more work is needed.
What does the data tell us?
- Transitions remain challenging: moving into adulthood for young people with additional support needs continues to be a difficult time that parents and carers struggle to navigate.
- Perception vs Experience: while the professional sector is making positive shifts, there is a mismatch between how well professionals feel they are supporting families and the actual experience of parents and carers.
- The Priority: expanded training and ongoing support for professionals are essential to bridge this gap.
What is ARC Scotland doing about it?
We are working closely with the Scottish Government towards the upcoming launch of three new resources for professionals supporting families:
- Scotland’s Transitions Knowledge Hub
- An introduction to Transitions e-learning course
- Principles of Good Transitions: 4th updated edition
