Workshops for women affected by cancer

Maggie's is hosting free workshops on cognitive behavioural therapy, and intimacy for women affected by cancer.
Maggie’s Lanarkshire will be offering two new workshops for women affected by cancer. One focuses on CBT to manage menopausal hot flushes and the second on intimacy and cancer. Please see below for more information.
The workshops are open to all – women do not have to live in the Lanarkshire area and referrals from a clinician are not required.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Hot flushes
We are excited to be offering a 4 week course in collaboration with colleagues from NHS Lanarkshire which uses a CBT approach to help women manage the physical and emotional impact of hot flushes caused by treatment induced menopause. This can be a treatment induced menopause due to medication, the effect of chemotherapy on ovarian function or need to discontinue HRT. This evidence based course will help equip those attending with practical coping strategies, relaxation techniques and cognitive tools to help reduce stress and improve quality of life.
The course will be held in Maggie’s Lanarkshire and will start on Wednesday 23rd September from 11.30am – 1.30pm and run for four weeks (no session on 14th October).
Maggies Lanarkshire also offer a 2 hour menopause workshop covering evidence based management of a broad range of menopause symptoms as a stand alone session.

Cancer and Intimacy workshops.
These bookable sessions will be hosted by Susan Swan , Maggies Cancer Support Specialist and Dr Alyson Welsh from NHS Lanarkshire Sexual Health Service who is a trained psychosexual therapist. These sessions aim to facilitate small group discussion of the psychosexual impact of cancer and cancer treatment.
