New CARE Grants Programme launched by Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan Cancer Support has announced the launch of its new CARE Grants Programme, designed to help tackle inequities in cancer diagnosis treatment and care across the UK. The organisation states that people continue to have unequal experiences of cancer services and that community organisations are well placed to address these challenges.
The CARE Grants Programme aims to support voluntary community faith and social enterprise organisations that are working to improve cancer outcomes through community-led approaches. Macmillan highlights the important role these groups play in understanding local needs and driving change within the health system.
The programme will fund projects that bring new insight and impact across three areas:
Cultural Responsiveness supporting improvements in how cancer care meets diverse cultural needs
Shared Decision Making helping people understand and take part in decisions about their care
Dementia Friendly Cancer Care strengthening support for people who are living with both cancer and dementia
Up to £1.5 million is available in this first round with individual grants ranging from £50,000 to £150,000. The fund is open to applications from community based organisations across the UK until 23 January 2026.
Further information, including full eligibility criteria and guidance, is available here.
