Journalist Pennie Taylor puts ALLIANCE members questions to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.
In our latest ALLIANCE Live interview, health journalist Pennie Taylor sits down with the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf MSP.
ALLIANCE members questions were put to the Cabinet Secretary and he discussed current issues and future priorities at a time of great challenge and change. Questions were wide ranging including NHS Recovery Plan, access to specialist nurses, the National Care Service, learning from the pandemic and the impact COVID has had on disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers.
On looking to the future the Cabinet Secretary said:
We’re trying to speed up our vaccination effort as best we possibly can because going into perpetual lockdowns, of course, is not good for people’s mental health, let along their physical health and let alone the public services that we’re so reliant on including the NHS. So a really difficult balance to get right. I’m not saying we get it right every time but a really difficult balance to try and get right… I hope you can also understand that we face a really significant challenge.”
