Professor Ian Welsh OBE the ALLIANCE's Chief Executive announced his decision today (14 December).

During his time as Chief Executive Ian has been committed to the ALLIANCE vision for people of all ages who are disabled or living with long term conditions, and unpaid carers, to have a strong voice and enjoy their right to live well with support and services that put them at the centre.

Staff and the ALLIANCE Board thank him for his leadership and drive over an eventful period in Scottish health and social care.

In a statement made today he says:

“I will be stepping down as Chief Executive, Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland, at the end of the year after enjoying nearly 12 years at the ALLIANCE.

Brilliant work colleagues, unstinting support from the Board and three supportive chairs, fine cross-sector relationships, hugely positive workstreams, some valuable personal work for Scottish Government.

I will continue to advise and support the new leadership team at the ALLIANCE, Sara Redmond and Susan Young, Chief Officers, Development and Operations, respectively.”
