A roundup of the Self Management Fund 2022

The Self Management Fund supports organisations to successfully deliver their projects, championing self management across Scotland.

The Self Management Fund announced 24 organisations to receive funding in the second round of the ‘Resilience, recovery and development’ cycle. The new projects, started in October, champion self management across Scotland by supporting individuals experiencing multiple forms of marginalisation and encouraging a hybrid way of working and digital inclusion. As part of the Fund’s ongoing support, the new projects received evaluation training from Evaluation Support Scotland, equipping organisations with useful skills for reporting on their objectives and outcomes.

Several engagement opportunities were provided for projects receiving funding from the first round of the ‘Resilience, recovery and development’ cycle. Multiple networking events were held, along with a learning day that gained insight to organisations’ experiences of setting up a project during a pandemic. The networking events offered a platform for organisations to give account of their work, to share learning to enhance third sector practices across Scotland, and to connect and network with other self management projects.

Additionally, to support circulation of good self management practices and emerging learning, seven Alliance Live videos were released, each receiving a high number of views. There are multiple videos currently awaiting publication and plans are in place to continue this work in co-production with the ALLIANCE’s Communication Team. Sharing knowledge and advancing practice, funded projects also held sessions during the Self Management Month which events were informative and well-attended.

The Fund regularly fed into the work of other ALLIANCE programmes and provided evidence to support positive change in policy and practice across Scotland. To ensure our operations are informed and responsive to changes across health and social care, started this year but will span into the next, a review of the processes of the Fund has also been taking place.
