Read our members' experiences of the implementation of the Realistic Medicine approach in Scotland.
On 19 April 2023, the ALLIANCE held a hybrid event on ‘Realistic Medicine’ with the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, Professor Sir Gregor Smith; National Clinical Advisor for Realistic Medicine, Dr Helen Mackie; and Realistic Medicine Clinical Lead for NHS GGC, Dr Jude Marshall.
The experiences of health and social care that our members shared highlighted the areas where Realistic Medicine is working, and some good practice examples we can learn from and promote; but also the areas where it is clear that further culture change is required in the way that care is discussed and delivered, if we are to make Realistic Medicine a reality for all.
This feedback report summarises the discussions that took place across five breakout discussion groups (three in-person, two online) in addition to points raised in the Q&A session with Sir Gregor Smith and Dr Helen Mackie. You can also find the report below.
You can find out more information on how this work is being rolled out across Scotland by watching our Realistic Medicine film series, or by visiting the Realistic Medicine website.
