Digital for wellbeing series
Six people people with lived experience of using a digital tool for the first time share how this has positively impacted their lives. We heard how the tools improved people’s wellbeing, independence and empowered them to feel more in control of their long term conditions. All through using self management apps, smart blinds, Tapo smart plugs, Alexas and Chromebooks.
Equally Valued
Episode 6 of Equally Valued explores some of the key issues currently impacting health inequalities in Scotland including drug deaths, housing and child poverty. We hear insights from colleagues at the Poverty Alliance and EVOC.
Opportunity is now
As part of the promotion for ‘The Opportunity is Now – human rights in health and social care in Scotland: where we’ve been and the journey ahead’, ALLIANCE Live released two items of content. The first was a video capture of one of the case study’s featured in the report called Dignispace. An online resource for nursing students to gain a better understanding and applying of human rights-based approaches within their practice.
An ALLIANCE Live podcast, ‘The Opportunity is Now – human rights in health and social care,’ was also produced that captured discussion between colleagues from Scottish Human Rights Commission and Branch Social Research about the main findings and recommendations contained within the report
Periods are normal – but what is a normal period? – Women’s Health Plan Webinar
The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) in partnership with the Scottish Government, hosted a webinar on menstrual health in February 2023. To explore this topic further the ALLIANCE were joined by Dr Jackie Maybin, researcher and consultant gynaecologist at the University of Edinburgh, and Women’s Health Plan Lived Experience member, Alice Brooks. Discussion focused on understanding what is ‘normal’ in terms of periods, heavy bleeding, irregularity, tackling period stigma, and why knowing your own period is important for getting support should you need it.
