Humans of Scotland: Strengthening our collective voice
Humans of Scotland is an ALLIANCE campaign highlighting the voices of disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers. In this video, we capture the experiences of three contributors to Humans of Scotland as they reflect on their experience of sharing their stories, the motivations behind it and why it is important for others to share their own stories.
We sat down with Kayla to explore how being a courageous leader doesn’t have to mean you look and sound a certain way, and how true leadership is about being vulnerable. They spoke to us about overcoming people’s initial perceptions, and how young people everywhere can get involved as a leader in the third sector.
Project Insights
This series invites projects funded by the Self Management Fund to present the impact and learning they have recorded whilst delivering activities and services to individuals they work with.
– Bipolar Scotland: Maja Mitchell-Grigorjeva, Delivery and Development Manager, talks about their new peer support project for adults in Scotland who are newly diagnosed with bipolar, Beyond Diagnosis
– Healthy Valleys: Alison Stanley and Simone Janse van Rensburg discuss the learning from their project, Beta Health, which supports people to self manage type 2 diabetes.
