The National Taskforce for Human Rights Leadership are seeking the views of children and young people on a new human rights law in Scotland.
The National Taskforce for Human Rights leadership (this link will take you away from our website) is putting together recommendations for the incorporation of a new human rights law in Scotland. This means that all our rights would be put directly into Scotland’s laws for the first time.
It is important that the new law is shaped by people’s views and experiences, including children and young people. The National Taskforce wants to hear what children and young people think about the new law and how it would affect them and their communities.
Together Scotland has produced three short briefings to help children and young people understand what human rights incorporation would mean for them. Each briefing is focused on a specific topic:
- The right to a healthy environment (this link will take you away from our website)
- The rights of disabled children and young people (this link will take you away from our website)
- The rights of black and ethnic minority children and young people (this link will take you away from our website)
Children and young people can inform the work of the National Taskforce about their views through drawings, paintings, poems or any other format. Children and young people can submit responses by themselves, or they can do so through a supporting adult or organisation.
Please submit your views to allourrightsinlaw@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is Sunday 31 January 2021.
