The Macmillan Lived Experience Programme is launching a new project.
Macmillan Cancer Support and the Scottish Government have partnered up to run the Transforming Cancer Care Programme. The Transforming Cancer Care Programme aims to ensure that everyone diagnosed with cancer has access to a dedicated support worker, to receive financial, practical and emotional support from diagnosis onwards. The Programme will also join up support across hospital, GP and community settings to ensure that people have the opportunity to access services tailored to their individual needs.
As part of the Macmillan Transforming Cancer Care Lived Experience Programme, the ALLIANCE is launching a new cancer service experience project. The project seeks to gain insight into experiences of accessing cancer services, with the aim to improve cancer services nationally.
There are various opportunities and ways to get involved. We will be recruiting for several cancer experience focus groups to provide you with a chance to share your experience.
We will also be recruiting several peer evaluators to help us facilitate these focus groups. The peer evaluator role is an opportunity for those who wish to be more involved in the project. As a peer evaluator you will assist us in the creation of focus group questions, help facilitate the focus groups, and provide your insight into the analysis of focus group discussions.
If this project is of interest to you, make sure you do not miss the opportunities to get involved that will be advertised in the coming months. This project will provide information in a range of different formats.
For more information, please contact Sarah, the Macmillan Lived Experience Development Officer at the ALLIANCE by email at macmillan@alliance-scotland.org.uk. Alternatively you can call us on 0141 404 0231 to leave your contact details and Sarah will get back to you.
