Lived experience and involvement is at the core of the Social Security Scotland development process.

Social Security Scotland would like to conduct research about icons with stakeholders who may use assistive technology, and/or use different ways of communicating.

The purpose of the research is to understand what icons mean to people and how they can be used and understood in different contexts. This is to make sure that Social Security Scotland are sensitively communicating with clients and the general public.

This is part of a larger research with clients about their overall experience of icons across different benefits. The findings from the research will allow us to make any necessary improvements to the service.

If you would like to take part, you will have a brief call with the researcher to share their thoughts on the icons. This call can be:

  • Phone Call – The researcher can share a confidential sample icons with you before the interview

Or

  • Video Call – You will not have to put your camera on if you don’t want to, the research will share their screen and show you the icons during the call.

The session will take up to 30 minutes. As we talk, we will take notes so that we can remember what you told us.

Participants do not need to be eligible for any of the benefits that Social Security Scotland provide to take part.

The research will be open until 3rd February 2023.
