People at highest risk of serious COVID-19 and flu illness are now being called forward to get their COVID-19 and flu vaccines.

All those aged 5 to 64 years in a clinical risk group will be contacted soon with a scheduled appointment for their winter vaccines.

Those who are pregnant have been identified by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) as higher risk from COVID-19. If you are pregnant speak to your midwife about booking your winter vaccines appointment.

From 24 October, people aged 5 or over who live with someone with a weakened immune system and carers aged 16 and over can book their appointment online at https://www.nhsinform.scot/winter-vaccines. Appointments for children under 16 must be booked by calling 0800 030 8013. For more information or to check your eligibility, please visit NHS Inform (this link will take you away from our website).

Where possible, the winter COVID-19 vaccine will be given at the same time as the flu vaccine to those who are eligible. Evidence shows that administration of both vaccines together is a safe and efficient way to deliver maximum protection over the winter months.

Appointments for those aged 50 to 64 with no additional risk factors will be made available as the programme progresses – people in this age group should wait until they are contacted or called forward.

All those aged 65 or over should have received a scheduled appointment for their COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. If you have not yet received this you can book an appointment via the NHS Inform website (this link will take you away from our website).

If you are a frontline health or social care worker and have not yet booked your winter vaccines you can also book an appointment that suits you via the online booking portal.

It’s important that you take up the offer of vaccination – it protects you and those you support against serious COVID-19 and flu illness.
