New film promoting the importance of listening and holding meaningful conversations is launched to mark What Matters To You? Day 2021
The ALLIANCE’s Carer Voices project is pleased to publish its latest short film which highlights the values of the What Matters to You?(WMTY) movement (this link will take you away from our website) of person centred approaches, active listening and fostering meaningful conversations within health and social care and beyond.
Launched on 9 June 2021 on WMTY Day, and within Carers Week (this link will take you away from our website), the film spotlights unpaid carers across Scotland sharing what really matters to them within their caring role.
Participants range from Shetland to South Ayrshire, and represent the diversity within carer experience. The film is introduced by Irene Oldfather, ALLIANCE Director of Strategic Partnerships and Engagement, and closed by Tommy Whitelaw, ALLIANCE National Lead for Caring and Outreach. It also features a contribution from Shaun Maher, Strategic Advisor on Person centred Care and Quality Improvement at the Scottish Government, and Chair of the WMTY Scot steering group.
The film encourages the importance of honouring the Five Must Do with Me steps:
- What matters to you?
- Who matters to you?
- What kind of information do you need?
- Nothing about me without me
- Creating service flexibility
You can watch the film on the ALLIANCE youtube channel here.
What matters to ALLIANCE colleagues? To mark WMTY Day 2021 a number of ALLIANCE staff members submitted their own creative and colourful responses to that question. You can see a collection of those here.
