The ALLIANCE will represent third sector organisations, disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers.

The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) has been granted ‘core participant’ status in the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry. The ALLIANCE will represent third sector organisations, disabled people, people living with long term conditions and unpaid carers in relation to the following terms of reference:

  • the design and delivery of a vaccination strategy
  • the requirement for shielding and associated assistance programmes, provided or supported by public agencies
  • the provision of healthcare services and social care support, including the management and support of staff and the recognition, involvement and support of unpaid carers.

A total of 29 organisations have been granted core participation status, including Scottish Care, Glasgow Disability Alliance, the Royal College of Nursing Scotland, and the Care Inspectorate.

Core participants have a central role in public inquiries and are afforded particular rights, including making statements when the Inquiry holds public hearings, proposing questions for Counsel to the Inquiry to ask witnesses, and being provided with advance copies of the Inquiry’s reports as they relate to the core participant’s interest.

The ALLIANCE looks forward to engaging with the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry in due course to represent the rights and interests of our members.

You can find out more about core participant status on the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry website (this link will take you away from our website).
