The ALLIANCE has published a literature review summarising what children and young people have shared with us about social care.

As part of the ongoing work on the proposed National Care Service, the Scottish Government asked the ALLIANCE to share findings from our recent work on children, young people, and their families’ experiences accessing – or trying to access – social care. We have now published the resulting literature review.

The findings and recommendations from this literature review are intended to inform the work on the National Care Service Charter of Rights and Responsibilities, as part of wider co-production and research work to ensure that the needs of children and young people and their families are included in design and implementation from the outset. The ALLIANCE strongly recommends that all parts of the proposed National Care Service should be directly informed by the views and experiences of people of all demographics who access or need to access social care. Even if no decision has yet been made on whether children and young people’s social care will be included within the remit of the National Care Service, it is vital that children, young people, and their families are part of this work throughout, following universal design and human rights based approaches.
