ALLIANCE Live aims to spotlight emerging issues, examples of good practice and innovation taking place within health and social care.
In the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport’s speech at the ALLIANCE’s Annual Conference ‘Impact: The 3rd Health and Social Care Integration Event’, Jeane Freeman MSP stated, “It is no secret that one phrase I dislike most is ‘sharing good practice’ and I dislike it as it never happens, we say it all the time but we don’t do it. We can’t have good practice in one area but not in another because it was not invented there.”
Having established networks nationally throughout health and social care along with an already strong digital presence, the ALLIANCE were well placed to help drive the sharing of good practice. The idea of ALLIANCE Live would be to utilise the speed and accessibility of online media to help raise awareness of successful initiatives and increase the pace of change across Scotland.
By June 2019 ALLIANCE Live was up and running initially producing webinars and podcasts. These webinars take the form of live online events with guests making a presentation before inviting the audience to pose questions. The format provides individuals to gain an insight into new ways of working taking place across Scotland from the comfort of their own desk or home. Topics such as the Framework for Community Health and Social Care Integrated Services and Co-Production in the Community have been delivered through ALLIANCE Live webinars.
ALLIANCE Live podcasts take a much more informal format of 30-minute roundtable conversations with individuals from across the spectrum of health and social care, from the statutory to third sector, individuals living with a long-term condition and their carers. To date the podcasts have had guests from the likes of Glasgow Centre for Population Health and Healthcare Improvement Scotland on subjects as wide ranging as ‘Tackling Poverty and Supporting Peoples Health’ to ‘Digital Evolution not Transformation.’
By the end of 2019 ALLIANCE Live had produced 15 webinars and 13 podcasts.
Looking to 2020 ALLIANCE Live has developed a new vision to known nationally as a vital digital outlet for highlighting emerging issues and practice. Anyone with an interest in health and social care has access to a bank of inclusive information and content that can be used to influence, educate or inspire.
As of the end of January 2020 that vision is on the road to being realised thanks to the instillation of a soundproofed recording space. ALLIANCE Live also added video production to its capabilities and kicked off its schedule with an interview with Director General of Health and Social Care and NHS Scotland Chief Executive, Malcolm Wright (this link will take you away from our website)
