Creating connection with art and kindness
After speaking with the staff and attendees of the Riverbank Resource Centre, and learning about the old oak tree that once sat on the grounds, Tommy Whitelaw proposed the idea of painting a mural of the tree in the Centre’s cafe. The ALLIANCE documented the process of Artist in Residence, Xuechang Leng working with individuals from the centre to create the interactive piece of art. In the video, Riverbank staff talk about what the tree will mean to the relationships between everyone at the centre and the painting’s potential to help build understanding.
