The Digital Citizen Panel programme is committed to ensuring that voices, expertise, and rights of people with lived experience are at the heart of digital service design, delivery and quality improvement. The programme supports the work of the Digital Citizen Delivery Board, with its aim to support citizens to better manage their health and wellbeing, support independent living and gain access to services through digital means.
Since its creation in 2021, the Digital Citizen Panel has established a committed membership, a trusting environment where people with lived experience feel safe in sharing their experiences and has received positive feedback from external stakeholders who have engaged or used the Digital Citizen Panel as a resource.
The Digital Citizen Panel offers a ‘platform to share’ and support people to feel ‘empowered to act,’ but primarily the programme ensures that people with lived experience directly influence digital service design and delivery, ensuring digital services are fit for purpose and meet the needs of the people they are designed to serve. One stakeholder stated that when engaging with the Digital Citizen Panel they ‘had a really interesting and positive session and was delighted to be able to make some changes that may provide a better user experience as a result.’
Our evaluation report was carried out using the Matter of Focus approach, a theory-based approach to outcome monitoring and evaluation, learning and improvement that builds on contribution analysis. The full report can be found here.
A summary report is also available, which offers an insight into the key findings of knowledge exchange, inclusion, sharing experiences and digital human rights principles.
The Digital Citizen Panel brings together a wealth of life, professional and personal experience to our engagement activity and we strive to build on its achievements, to achieve national representation through its membership, and to include the voices of seldom heard communities.
