GDA’s October activities for young disabled people and carers

GDA is hosting free creative sessions for young disabled people aged 14–25 and their carers during the October holidays.
Glasgow Disability Alliance (GDA) is running a series of free sessions for young disabled people aged 14–25 during the October holidays. The activities are designed to be creative, engaging and inclusive, offering opportunities to learn new skills, meet peers and have fun in a supportive environment.
Programme of sessions:
Tuesday 14 October, 10:30am – 2:30pm
DJing workshop: Learn the basics of DJing with The Sound Lab and Jonny ‘Wheelman’ Fernandez in a relaxed and interactive session.
Thursday 16 October, 10:30am – 2:30pm
Fair Trade and Climate Justice at Glasgow Science Centre: Explore climate justice and Fair Trade through creative storytelling. Participants will co-create content such as videos and artwork while learning about global supply chains and Scotland’s role in climate resilience.
Friday 17 October, 10:30am – 2:30pm
Zine-making workshop: Discover how to make handmade magazines using cutting, collage and drawing techniques. Materials will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring their own photos or artwork to include.
On Friday 17 October, a separate session for parents and carers will also run alongside the young people’s workshop. This will provide information and peer support around social care, welfare rights and transitions, as well as opportunities to meet others and take part in relaxing activities. Parents and carers do not need to attend with their young person.
Practical information:
- All sessions are free to attend.
- Taxi transport, lunch, teas, coffees and personal support assistance will be provided.
- BSL users are welcome.
