The Scottish Government are currently reviewing the Statutory Guidance for Self-directed Support (SDS).

Following the passing of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act in 2013, the Scottish Government drafted associated Statutory Guidance (this link will take you away from our website) to aid with the implementation and delivery of Self-directed Support (SDS).

Nearly a decade later, with the National Care Service likely to introduce substantial change into Scotland’s social care landscape, the Scottish Government are reviewing that Guidance. The aim is to ensure that the Statutory Guidance is fit for purpose and can complement developments around the National Care Service. As part of that work, the Scottish Government have invited a range of stakeholders to contribute to the revisions, including social work professionals, third sector organisations, and unpaid carers. The intention is to publish revised Guidance, including accessible versions, in autumn 2022.

If you are interested in contributing to the ALLIANCE responses to the draft Guidance, and for further updates, please get in touch with Hannah Tweed (hannah.tweed@alliance-scotland.org.uk) for more information. We would really value your input and expertise.
