The ALLIANCE are delighted to announce that they have become an accredited Living Wage Employer.
We have joined a movement of thousands of organisations, businesses and people, across Scotland and the whole of the UK, who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. Together we can continue to ensure everyone can earn enough to live on.
The real Living Wage is higher than the government’s minimum, or National Living Wage, and is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living. It is calculated each year and is announced by the Living Wage Foundation as part of Living Wage Week. It is currently £9.00 in the UK, with a higher rate of £10.55 for London, reflecting the higher costs of living in the capital.
ALLIANCE Chief Executive Professor Ian Welsh OBE said
” We are delighted for the ALLIANCE to join thousands of organisations across the UK as an accredited Living Wage employer. Proper remuneration of staff is at the core of a human rights based approach which we believe is beneficial to our staff and our outcomes.”
Over 4,000 organisations, including the ALLIANCE, voluntarily choose to pay the real Living Wage because we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.
