The Scottish Government responds to the ALLIANCE’s cancer prehabilitation insights report

In April 2022, the ALLIANCE published a report which summarised people’s views on cancer prehabilitation services.
The Scottish Government has now responded to our report with actions that they intend to take in order to address the recommendations that we have made.
These actions include:
- Striving to ensure people affected by cancer have the opportunity to drive and inform the work of the Scottish Government.
- Working with service providers to provide the tools they need to deliver the best possible services to all who would benefit from them at each point in the cancer pathway.
- Continuing to consider a range of views regarding the Scottish Government’s development and delivery of messaging.
- Ensuring that where our recommendations around service design go beyond the remit of cancer prehabilitation, the relevant teams and services are made aware of the recommendations.
- Sharing the findings contained within our cancer prehabilitation insights report via the Scottish Government’s Cancer Prehabilitation Implementation Steering Group (CPISG), members of the CPISG’s networks and the Scottish Government’s prehabilitation website.
The Scottish Government has committed to explore any other mechanisms which will maximise the reach of the report to ensure the views and experiences of those who contributed are heard and considered across Scotland and beyond.
