Using ALISS Data

ALISS has been created using the principles of open source software.
The ALISS team believes the data in ALISS should be openly available and shared. To achieve this, we offer an open API (Application Programming Interface). Meaning, as well as accessing information through www.aliss.org, the data can be used in other websites and systems, e.g. to create your own online directory of assets. This allows us to work with many different systems and partners, such as NHS Inform Scotland’s Service Directory and the Glasgow Community Food Network.
We have also developed our own customisable maps. This is a digital tool within the ALISS platform that allows organisations to create tailored, interactive maps that showcase specific resources or services based on criteria in an area they choose. These maps can then be embedded on websites to make them easily accessible to anyone who may benefit.
To find out more about how our API or customisable maps could help you, please contact us.
Another method of presenting ALISS information is using our JavaScript plugin. This can be easily embedded on third party websites, without the need for much specialist technical knowledge. Additionally, the code for the ALISS system is available on GitHub, which enables developers to build on the technical work of the programme to date. The code can be reused, subject to a Creative Commons licence.
