The Self Management projects have continued to build and create strong connections and developments over the past year.
The Self Management Network Scotland (SMNS) continued to meet and share learning throughout the year. Our connections across Scotland remain strong and we maintain links between the national and regional networks.
The Self Management Reflective Practices (SMRP) have been on pause as they were being redeveloped. There are now updated resources and session plans that can be tailored to specific audiences. We aim to relaunch SMRP with a focus on frontline primary care staff.
In 2022, we switched from our previous model of raising awareness of self management through ‘Self Management Week’ to ‘Self Management Month’ with activities planned each Wednesday throughout September and a social media campaign throughout. Amongst the feedback we received on events were that they were “thought provoking, practice enhancing.”
For the third year running, the Self Management Awards (SMA) were hosted online. With the addition of new awards focussed on Sensory Loss and Art, the ceremony proved once again to be uplifting and thought-provoking. Winners from 2020-2022 were invited to a Celebration Event at Scottish Parliament in November to bring winners and their guests together in person.
Along though attending the Highland Self Management Forums and giving an account of the ALLIANCE’s work to stakeholders, the Team supported the Edinburgh Self Management Network to create a self management toolkit for practitioners, which will be released soon.
The Self Management Fund (SMF) announced 24 newly funded organisations as part of the second round of the Resilience, Recovery and Development cycle. For more information and details on the Self Management Fund, read the SMF annual report.
