The Care Inspectorate wants feedback from social care services on their self-evaluation toolkit. Submit your feedback by 20 December 2024.

The Care Inspectorate have produced a draft self-evaluation tool which aims to support and promote people’s rights through the use of technology. Designed for social care services, its purpose is to provide a framework for assessing how well a service is doing in a range of key areas related to technology.

Recognising the potential benefits of digital technology in health and social care, the Care Inspectorate emphasise that a person-centered approach and adherence to rights principles are fundamental when considering how technology can improve people’s outcomes. This toolkit allows services to take a structured approach to self-evaluating their current digital capabilities, so that targets can be set in any areas that may need to be improved.

The toolkit covers several topics including: Laying the foundations for digital; Digital Leadership; Digital: A rights based approach; Cyber Security and data protection. The Care Inspectorate are seeking consultation with the social care sector on this toolkit. Feedback can be submitted online until 20th December 2024. You can read the draft self-evaluation toolkit and complete the feedback here.

The Health and Social Care ALLIANCE (the ALLIANCE) continue to campaign for a human rights based approach to digital health and social care. In partnership with Scottish Care and VOX (Voices Of eXperience), we have created our own Human Rights Principles in Digital Health and Social Care and continue to advocate for services to adopt these principles in their services.
