This library of resources and guides exists to support organisations in delivering more meaningful engagement with lived experience.

Welcome to the ALLIANCE Lived Experience Knowledge Hub: a new resource library for anyone to use as a space to share ideas and learning on best practice engagement.

We want to ensure that people’s expertise and knowledge through their lived experience is valued, and that their voices are at the centre of policy and practice, through meaningful involvement in the decisions that affect them.

In support of this goal, we have created the Knowledge Hub to share learning from across all ALLIANCE programmes as well as our research report, ‘Engaging people with lived experience‘, to provide a space to discuss:

  • What does good practice looks like?
  • What are the barriers and enablers to engaging with people with lived experience?
  • What difference can we make when individuals are active and equal partners in the development of policy and practice?

Please use, share and provide feedback on the Guidance, Policies and Templates within this library, so we can continue to improve these resources – and in turn, our own practice.

You can navigate between these sections by clicking the links in the sidebar of this page, where you can also find relevant research and reports from the ALLIANCE, which explore the requirements for meaningful engagement. You can also find external resources from other organisations working on lived experience engagement and co-production.

If you have any resources you would like us to signpost to on the Knowledge Hub, or if there is a resource you would like to suggest, please contact Rachel from the ALLIANCE at rachel.cairns@alliance-scotland.org.uk.

Join our Community of Practice for Lived Experience

The Community of Practice – Lived Experience, facilitated by the ALLIANCE, is a space for individuals and professionals involved in lived experience to connect, and share learning, ideas and challenges for meaningfully involving lived experience within their work.

Membership is free, and open to anyone with a role or remit in facilitating lived experience engagement. We meet every three months online, and also have a Microsoft Teams channel for discussion in between meetings. If you are interested in joining, please email rachel.cairns@alliance-scotland.org.uk.
